IAOP Chapters:  Nonprofit and Government

Inaugural Meeting of the Nonprofit and Government Chapter

The Chapter held its inaugural meeting at The 2006 Outsourcing World Summit, on Monday, February 20th from 9:00 – 11:00 am in the conference center of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Orlando, Florida.

Chairman’s Summary

A group of individuals representing government agencies, providers and advisors met at the OWS and reviewed the mission of the Nonprofit and Government Chapter.

Chapter Charter

The group agreed to the following charter for the chapter:

To provide a forum for the nonprofit and government industry professionals, providers, and consultants who share a common purpose of advancing outsourcing services and the profession.

Committee Structure/Participation

The committee recommended that participation on the committee should be limited to nonprofit and government representatives and advisors with no direct connection to suppliers. Suppliers and providers would be welcome on an invitation basis only.

Body of Knowledge

The group recommended a number of areas on how IAOP can address the needs of the Chapter:

· Provide specific information on learnings from other government and nonprofit outsource engagements.

· Develop specialized courses on government and nonprofit outsourcing, e.g.

o Training for government and nonprofit representatives on contracting for outsource services.

o Develop key performance indicators and metrics for the government and nonprofit sector.

· Do not develop a separate certification track of government and nonprofit members.

· Create on-line resources for the Chapter members.

Meetings

The group would like to meet on-line and investigate one to two face to face meetings per year.

The Nonprofit and Government Chapter is led by Abe Eshkenazi, Managing Director for the Operations Consulting Group of RSM McGladrey. Abe provides business, operational, and compliance consulting services to professional service organizations, associations, tax-exempt and government organizations including design and implementation of outsource strategies.
