Speakers: Carlos Vela-Treviño, Partner, Baker McKenzie Mexico; Julio César Vega, General Director, Asociación de Internet (AIMX) Mexico Webinar Overview: The Association of Internet MX (AIMX) is the leading Internet think-tank in Mexico. Since 2007, the AIMX runs a reputed Trustmark Program. Mexican websites that evidence compliance with Data Protection Law, Consumer Law and good practices on the internet are enrolled in the program and are entitled to display the Trustmark of the AIMX on their websites. During the last years, AIMX has been fighting against malicious websites that illegally display the image of the AIMX Trustmark on their sites, with the aim to deceive consumers. By 2019, the AIMX had explored, a variety of legal options (including trademark litigation, anti-counterfeiting litigation, and criminal actions, among others), both with the assistance of law firms and regulators, without success. In 2020, AIMX started to explore a new option based on legal innovation techniques, under the Baker Mckenzie innovation program, Reinvent. Hear how this partnership empowered consumers, saves money, time, and resources, and has contributed to a safer internet.
