OF OUTSOURCING PROFESSIONALS (IAOP)

The mission of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) is to shape the future of outsourcing as a management practice and as an industry by furthering the knowledge, skills, and professionalism of its leaders and practitioners. It was formed in January 2005 by Michael F. Corbett, one of the field’s best-known and most-respected leaders, working with a consortium of forward-thinking outsourcing customers, providers, and advisors.

IAOP provides its members the support they need to make outsourcing a powerful management discipline through a comprehensive array of services, rights, and privileges including:

Conferences & Meetings - The Outsourcing World Summit®, which has been produced annually and all around the globe since 1998, is now the annual conference for IAOP members.  Additionally, regional, national and local chapter meetings are held on a regular basis.

Professional Recognition, Certification and Training - Corporate and Individual Members receive the IAOP Member logo for use on their letterhead, business cards, and website. Individual Members can earn certification as Certified Outsourcing Professionals (COP). Corporate Members can earn certification of organization-wide management processes and performance as an IAOP Certified Organization.  Certification requires completion of approved training, demonstration of professional competency, and adherence to ethical standards.  Advanced certification is planned for selected responsibilities, functions, and industries.

Best Practices and Industry Benchmarks - IAOP produces annual reports on industry best practices as well as benchmark reports on key industry trends, such as, services, pricing, contract terms, salaries, performance standards, and related topics.

Online and Direct Member Services - Additional member services include online resources, such as, the association’s Members Directory, use of the association’s outsourcing news and information portal, Firmbuilder.com, discussion threads, webinars, opportunity referrals, job postings, and other services. Members also receive the association’s magazine and annual buyers guide.  The association’s Member Services Desk provides support in the use of member services as well as business referral services.

Advocacy & Outreach - IAOP advances outsourcing as a profession through public awareness and outreach.  Activities include maintaining a body of information for use by the press and government agencies, participating as an industry advocate in public forums, and supporting and positively directing the work of legislative and other governmental bodies.

Award Program - IAOP sponsors and presents an award program recognizing member organizations and professionals for their accomplishments and contributions to the field. The association’s Excellence in Outsourcing and Professional of the Year awards recognize, respectively, organizations and individuals for their accomplishments and contributions.
