In Its 20th-Anniversary Year, Outsourcing World Summit Shows Disruption in Industry
Two Honored as “Members of the Year” During IAOP’s Annual Conference

San Antonio, TX, March 2, 2017 – Industry professionals from around the globe came together last week to chart the industry’s future during IAOP’s 2017 Outsourcing World Summit®. In the 20th-anniversary edition of IAOP’s annual conference, outsourcing demonstrated its strength as a global platform to grow and transform businesses.

Focus this year was on disruption and the state of the industry, women empowerment and opportunity in outsourcing, impact sourcing, the evolution of outsourcing, outthinking the competition, and the future.

“We stand on the cusp of a new state of outsourcing as a global platform for transformation and growth, driven by integrated teams of high-value professionals using advanced management practices and processes,” said IAOP CEO, Debi Hamill. “Outsourcing remains an important business strategy that must be linked to both business and functional strategy.”

Keynote speaker Dr. Kaihan Krippendorff shared first-hand accounts of his time with business and social innovators such as Elon Musk and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Mohammad Yunus. He delivered an inspiring call to action for leaders and employees facing an increasingly disruptive marketplace.

Keynote speaker Jared Weiner gave attendees a crash course on the major growth areas poised to shape our economy and society – and how those growth areas will define tomorrow’s outsourcing environment. He explored how the accelerating pace of technological change is set to disrupt everything around us, examining several emerging workplace trends and who (and what) will make up the future workforce.

A keynote session on Women Empowerment & Opportunity in Outsourcing explored preliminary findings from IAOP, and Avasant’s collaborated survey “Women Empowerment and Opportunity in Outsourcing.” Led
as an open forum panel, it explored initiatives being created, successfully executed, and challenges faced going forward. This session set the stage for creating an IAOP Women Empowerment chapter focusing on these matters.

Outsourcing customers, providers, and advisors from leading companies converged at the summit with some of the largest numbers of international attendees coming from Australia, Canada, China, India, Netherlands, Russia, and the United Kingdom, to hear the latest strategies that are leading companies to success in the new outsourcing landscape.

Seen and Heard at the Summit
“There are only a few things that you can depend
on in today's world, and one of them is that the IAOP will deliver a value-packed conference experience every year. I had two new colleagues join me for their first conference, and they said it was the best conference they've ever attended.” —Michael Nacarato, Freedom Mortgage Corporation

“From finding out the latest industry trends to meeting colleagues from around the world who face the same challenges I do, I came away from OWS 17 energized with lots of ideas and resources that will help me drive value for my company.”  —Mary Lewis, Sprint

“The OWS Series is one of a kind, because of its three-day focus on the future of the Industry, current trends and challenges and sharing experiences from all around the world. The attendees are the special sauce, having business leaders from buyers, providers and advisors along with academic thought leaders all at one place to interact.” —Marko Kovacevic, Trizma

“I found it really encouraging and exciting that a women's chapter will be launched. Women face unique challenges as service providers as well as navigating in a traditionally male environment.
