Highly Attended Outsourcing World Summit Shows Strength and Importance of Industry
Two Honored as “Members of the Year” During Annual Conference

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., March 1 – More than 550 professionals from around the globe attended the 2010 Outsourcing World Summit®, demonstrating the strength and importance of outsourcing as companies recover from tough economic times. 

The three-day annual conference of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®) held in Florida brought together record numbers of executives from world-class organizations.

During the event, the association inducted new members into the Hall of Fame, honored its “Members of the Year,” unveiled the initial lists of the Global Outsourcing 100®, and launched its new official publication, Globalization Today. 

“This year’s Summit was particularly timely and relevant to organizations as the economy shows signs of rebounding,” said IAOP Chairman Michael Corbett. “Companies learned how outsourcing can help create change, enable growth and add value to their organizations.”

Delegate Jorge Muxica, Certified Outsourcing Professional® (COP), director, Global IT Managed Services and Global Sourcing at Applied Materials, Global Information Services, called the Summit an “invigorating experience.”

“The Outsourcing World Summit was charged with enthusiasm and knowledgeable people,” Muxica said. “It provided me with the ability to engage professionals that I had met earlier and also allowed me to initiate new relationships with folks who are doing similar things in the world of outsourcing.”

Johnson & Johnson’s Julia Santos and commercial real estate executive Rich Etzkorn were recognized as “Members of the Year” during the Summit Awards Luncheon on Feb. 16.


Santos, COP, is head of Worldwide Strategic Sourcing for Johnson & Johnson Group of Consumer Companies, which delivers innovative solutions to the R&D organization.She is the co-chair of the Global Human Capital Chapter, a member of the Membership Committee and serves on IAOP’s Strategic Advisory Board.

“My involvement with IAOP has given me the tools and knowledge to succeed in this volatile and changing industry of outsourcing,” Santos said.“In today’s global economy, outsourcing is critical to helping companies better leverage their strengths, strategically partner to obtain higher growth and superior returns, gain greater flexibility and reach, and drive down the overall business costs and risks. I am excited and proud to be part of this dynamic industry.”

Etzkorn, senior vice president of Cassidy Turley, co-chairs IAOP’s Midwest Chapter. He also co-hosted the Summit’s Provider/Advisor Networking Session and is a member of IAOP’s Summit Program Committee.

“Having the opportunity to not only be involved in a world-class global organization that is IAOP, but to also be able to contribute to its success is itself rewarding. Being recognized for contributing is a wonderful honor,” said Etzkorn.


IAOP inducted three leaders into its prestigious Outsourcing Hall of Fame. The newest members are: Joshua R.Jewett, senior vice president of Information Technology and procurement, and chief information officer, Family Dollar Stores, Inc.; Dmitry A. Loschinin, president and chief executive officer, Luxoft; and the late Dewang Mehta, past president, NASSCOM®.

Also, the unranked lists of the top outsourcing service providers and advisors named to the Global Outsourcing 100 lists was released at the event. The rankings and sublists will be published in May. 

Globalization Today magazine launched with a mission of creating the best and largest informational resource on outsourcing by uniting and tapping the collective intellect of individuals from around the world. The premiere issue featured stories from IAOP thought leaders and members.

IAOP also announced that its 14th edition of the world-renowned annual Summit will be held Feb. 21-23, 2011, at the Renaissance Esmeralda, Indian Wells, California. For more information and special introductory rates, see the
