International Association of Outsourcing Professionals Partners with Singapore Technology Association to Advance IT Outsourcing

Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) Joins with IAOP and Launches Local Chapter

POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y., May 8, 2009 – The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals  (IAOP) today announced a new partnership with Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) to advance outsourcing in the Asia Pacific region.

SiTF has joined the global outsourcing group as an “affiliate association” and launched an IAOP local chapter for outsourcing professionals in the country to network, share best practices and promote the industry.

The two groups will work together to promote outsourcing, offshoring, shared services and related management practices, industries and its professionals, through conferences and events, publications and other member communications, and other activities.

As Singapore’s premier infocomm industry association, SiTF has about 400 corporate members from multinational corporations and local companies. It assists in business development, market intelligence, overseas trade missions, networking and alliances. IAOP has more than 100,000 members and affiliates.

Leading the affiliation with IAOP is the SiTF “Best Sourcing Chapter (
BSC),” one of eight subgroups in the association.

The two associations formalized the alliance with a signing ceremony by BSC Chairman Charles Fan and IAOP Chairman Michael Corbett, who travelled throughout the region to meet with outsourcing professionals as part of the IAOP Global Tour.

“Outsourcing continues to grow in Asia, which is at the center of the new global economy,” Corbett said. “This partnership with SiTF will benefit members of both our associations and other professionals in the region by providing education and the latest information about the important role outsourcing will continue to play moving ahead.”

“The new IAOP Singapore chapter opens the way for IT sourcing companies in
Singapore to be plugged into a global organization that includes many brand-name multi-national corporations, country ICT (information, communications and technology) federations, local enterprises, business advisories and outsourcing stakeholders,” Fan said.

Andrew Khaw, Senior Director, Industry Development Group of Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore, also welcomed this partnership between IAOP and SiTF’s Best Sourcing Chapter.

“With this alliance,
Singapore’s outsourcing companies will benefit from the global network of international buyers and stakeholders,” he said. “A wealth of industry best practices will also be built up, further strengthening Singapore’s position as a trusted outsourcing hub for IT services.”

SiTF will be participating in the upcoming 2009 Asia-Pacific Outsourcing Summit, May 12-13, at the
Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Malaysia, where hundreds of outsourcing professionals will gather to discuss Asia’s outsourcing future.

IAOP also is building its presence in the European region through a new alliance with the UK-based
British Computer Society (BCS), the leading professional body for those working in IT with 65,000 members in more than 100 countries.
