Business Leaders Show Commitment to Outsourcing the Right Way By Participating in The 2009 Outsourcing World Summit

Socially Responsible Outsourcing and Success Strategies Among Topics for Annual Event

POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y., Jan. 20, 2009 – Recognizing that getting outsourcing right is more important than ever, top companies from around the world will participate in next month’s Outsourcing World Summit® to learn the latest strategies to succeed in today’s economy.

“Leading global companies understand that in these turbulent times, outsourcing can give them a competitive advantage if done properly,” said Michael Corbett, chairman of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), producer of the world-renowned annual event. “Now is the time for professionals to get involved with shaping the future direction of this industry.”

The 12th edition of the executive conference for outsourcing customers, providers and advisors will be held
Feb.16-18 at La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

“The one thing the outsourcing industry can not afford to do in today’s environment is to stop investing in professional expertise and in learning how companies can reach their full potential,” he added.

The three-day program will provide numerous education, networking and training opportunities for professionals with tracks focusing on strategies for success, experiences shared by customers and providers, and the management science and profession of outsourcing.

New to the program are multiple sessions on making corporate social investments through outsourcing, an important and growing area that will show businesses how they can produce exceptional results for business and society.

Speaker Highlights

Hundreds of executives attending the conference will hear practical insights from speakers, including:

Ø Ambassador R. Nicholas Burns, former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, will speak on “Globalization and the New ‘Flat’ World.” One of America’s top foreign policy experts and practitioners, Burns will share what works and doesn’t work in foreign relations and predict what the future holds for businesses operating on the world stage.

Ø Jill Smart, Chief Human Resources Officer, Accenture, will talk about the importance of HR as a business partner in today’s economy. Her session on “A Blueprint for Attracting Talent” will share strategies for creating a high-performance organization by using people talent.

Ø Nelson Farris, Director Corporate Education, Nike, Inc., will share how outsourcing and flexible resourcing have helped make the company one of the most dominant brands in the history of business.

During the event, IAOP also will announce the world’s leading outsourcing service providers named to The 2009 Global Outsourcing 100 list and the first companies to make its new list, The World’s Best Outsourcing Advisors.

The association also will honor this year’s inductees into the prestigious Outsourcing Hall of Fame at a luncheon ceremony.
