Course Description

One requirement of the Outsourcing Professional Body of Knowledge (OPBOK) is the “Ability to assess and enhance over time an organization’s outsourcing maturity.”  This workshop will provide an overview of two eSourcing Capability Models and the associated appraisal methods, which can be said to meet this requirement.  ITSqc, LLC, the spin-off from Carnegie Mellon University created to promote best practice models for the global IT-enabled services industry, aims to extend the impact of the eSourcing Capability Models (eSCM-SP for service providers and eSCM-CL for client organizations).  ITSqc, LLC, provides support for these Models, by training professionals about the Models, the eSCM-based methods for determining organizational capabilities, and related professional education programs with strategic partners including IAOP.  Workshop topics include:  the eSourcing Capability Model for Client Organizations (eSCM-CL); the eSourcing Capability Model for Service Providers (eSCM-SP); the eSourcing Capability Determination Methods; organization certification using the eSourcing Capability Models; process improvement using the eSourcing Capability Models and examples of improvements made using the eSourcing Capability Models.

In complex global supply chains, the balance of innovation and sustainability is a double
edged sword. Being sustainable demands creativity in business operations, but innovation
also carries the risk of creating unsustainable practices and products.
This course aims to create understanding and implications of sustainable supply chains.  The objectives are :
-       1 Ability to define outsourcing in terms easily understood by individuals at all levels of the organization and by outside stakeholders, including shareholders and the public at-large
-       Ability to understand and create a framework for strategic sourcing outside an organization’s home country and relevant considerations
-       Ability to identify and assess the applicability of various operational standards and certifications such as CMM, eSCM, Six-Sigma, ITIL, TPA, compliance requirements to the organization’s strategic sourcing direction

This course covers topics to help managers source business and IT services from the initiation of a sourcing decision and evaluation process through supplier selection and transition to outsourcing.
