A champion is a person who fights or argues for a cause or on behalf of someone else. It is also someone who is a superstar.

The 64 companies on IAOP’s inaugural Impact Sourcing Champions Index are both. They are the best of the best buy-side, provider and advisory firms that each day advance the lives of people who otherwise would have limited prospects for sustainable employment through their award-winning hiring practices.

Impact sourcing is making a difference by creating jobs in underserved communities where there is high unemployment and in established markets by intentionally hiring workers who have fewer prospects for sustainable jobs and giving them the necessary training to succeed.

Launched in collaboration with the Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI), this first-of-its-kind list is an opportunity to showcase and honor outstanding business services and technology firms around the world in all different segments of the industry who are blazing trails in this area.

Impact Sourcing has proven itself over the last few years as a competitive strategy that enables companies using it to significantly lower attrition rates, increase employee motivation, and gain access to a new, untapped labor market.

IAOP is committed to advancing impact sourcing as a transformative business model and supporting IAOP members and the leading firms who are putting impact sourcing into action.

“As an industry, we have a unique opportunity to influence the hiring practices of organizations across the globe,” says IAOP CEO Debi Hamill. “We can make a huge difference in underserved areas in our own communities. The time is right to showcase the trailblazers in impact sourcing and to recognize and share their best practices. We are proud of the work these organizations are doing.”

The Impact Sourcing Champions Index helps companies make decisions on the top providers to partner with and attracts today’s leading young talent who want to make a social impact to join their organizations, according to Hamill.

“The index helps to illuminate the impact sourcing trend in the BPO industry by letting buyers know about impact sourcing options,” says Jon Browning, CEO of Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI). “This encourages other providers to develop their own impact sourcing strategy.”

To be included in the index, companies submitted an online application, which was then reviewed by IAOP’s Social Impact Committee. The list includes past recipients of IAOP’s Global Impact Sourcing Award (GISA) and companies to watch as well as firms that are Global Impact Sourcing Coalition (GISC) standard adopters who completed the self-assessment and assurance process to fully adopt the Impact Sourcing Standard.

Organizations on the list also will be showcased in the October 2020 “Change the World” issue of Fortune magazine.

Impact Sourcing Champions Making a Difference

Here’s what two leaders had to say about being recognized on this new and important list:

Televerde – This 2020 Global Impact Sourcing Award (GISA) winner is a fully integrated sales and marketing technology organization that creates jobs in the business process outsourcing industry in underserved communities, specifically for women presently and formerly incarcerated.
“For more than 25 years, intentional hiring has been at the core of Televerde’s purpose-driven business model as we believe that providing job opportunities and training to disempowered communities is both a moral and business imperative. It’s a model that continues to optimize results for our clients, while transforming the lives of incarcerated women,” said Televerde CEO Morag Lucey.

“Excluding people from opportunity because of background or circumstance is not a winning economic or business strategy,” Lucey said. “In fact, as we continue to see, it’s detrimental to our society as a whole. The time is now for all companies to double-down on their diversity and inclusion efforts and prioritize the hiring and development of those who are long-term unemployed, have a criminal background, or are living below the national poverty line so that everyone has a chance to fulfill their human potential and achieve growth and prosperity in our global economy.”

Alorica Inc. –  A global leader in customer experience solutions committed to creating career paths for those most in need around the world said it is honored to be on the Impact Sourcing Champions Index.

According to Joyce Lee, Chief Culture Officer at Alorica who also serves as Co-Chair of IAOP’s Social Responsibility in Outsourcing Chapter:  “Our vision of making lives better one interaction at a time doesn’t just apply to the customers we serve, but also to our Aloricans around the world, especially those who just need a little hand up to better support themselves, their families and their communities.”

“As a large employer in many of the countries we operate, we will keep doing what we can to create a positive impact wherever we can through impact sourcing, which has never been more important,” she said. “It’s the right thing to do and we look forward to continue partnering with organizations like IAOP to be a part of the solution.”
