Day 1

Understanding Outsourcing

The concept of outsourcing. Understanding the power of competition, core competencies, and continuous change. Outsourcing’s value pyramid. How business process outsourcing differs from outsourcing. The relationship between outsourcing, shared services, and commercialization. Going global, why and how. 

Sourcing as Strategy
Mapping markets to competitive advantage and outsourcing. Building acceleration, flexibility, and innovation into the value model. Zero-based sourcing and just-in-time sourcing. Letting the marketplace drive sourcing decisions. Making outsourcing a true management discipline.

Optimizing the Opportunities
The differences between top-down and bottom-up opportunity identification. Outsourcing trends across business and public entities. Selecting ideas that warrant full assessment. Establishing a timeline.  Defining goals, decision gates, and decision makers.

DAY 2

Creating and Leading Successful Project Teams

Engaging the Marketplace

Choosing the Right Provider

Bringing the right number and mix of providers to the table. Evaluating competencies, capabilities, and fit. How to evaluate the selective and full outsourcing options to gain optimal results. Managing a selection process that produces the desired outcomes.  

DAY 3
Developing the Financial Case

Establishing the base case. Analyzing the financials of the proposals. Developing a full-cost model for the transition. Assessing and minimizing financial risks. Comparing options and making the best financial decision.

Pricing, Contracting, and Negotiating

Pricing for optimal results, not just lowest cost. Structure and elements of the outsourcing contract. Building modular contracts. How to negotiate effectively while still building sustainable relationships.  

Managing People and Change
