IAOP Launches Center for Social Impact

Key Areas Include Socially Responsible Outsourcing; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Women Empowerment & Leadership; Refugee Initiatives; and Global Mentorship

WINDERMERE, FL, March 8, 2022 – IAOP today announced the launch of its new Center for Social Impact – a hub for research, real-world case studies, articles, toolkits, and more to promote doing well by doing good through Impact Sourcing, which includes socially responsible outsourcing; diversity, equity and inclusion; women empowerment and leadership; refugee initiatives; and global mentorship.

Impact sourcing is a business strategy in which companies hire high-potential but marginalized or disadvantaged people in the services sector who may not have access to other types of jobs. This practice helps the firms involved, while also improving communities across countries by providing training and development opportunities for workers from those regions as well as the positive social impact on both sides.

The Center for Social Impact will provide resources and support to companies interested in implementing impact sourcing strategies. The center will also conduct research on best practices for impact sourcing, and identify ways to measure the social impact of these programs.

Led by IAOP's Social Impact Leadership Team, the Center has already kicked off with a virtual forum, participated in OWS22, and is slated to present several webinars and podcasts in the next couple of months.

“Having watched this industry evolve for more than two decades, using outsourcing as a way to empower and connect the underserved feels right,” said Debi Hamill, IAOP’s CEO. “I think it’s in the DNA of IAOP to want the work to mean more. Our members are inspired now more than ever by the prospect of giving back. It's not only the right thing to do but makes good business sense.”

"IAOP members are leading their organizations' social impact efforts from the c-suite crafting the strategic blueprint, to the those on the front lines putting it into practice–they say things like 'I need to learn everything I can about this,' and 'who should I connect with so I can get this right,'" Hamill said. “The Center is going to quench that thirst.”  For more information and to get involved visit IAOP.org/sro
