Georgia creates favorable environment for IT and Business Process Outsourcing investors

In its continued efforts to strengthen Georgia’s position as a superior investment destination in eastern Europe, a new set of incentives were initiated recently aimed at attracting foreign investments in Business Process Outsourcing and ICT.  

Enterprise Georgia, a state investment promotion and economic development agency under the Ministry of Economy of Georgia has launched a new financial support mechanism “FDI Grant”, which covers key growth sectors for Georgia, including Business Process Outsourcing/Business services. By employing a minimum of 200 associates and investing a minimum of 1.5 million USD in business services delivery project, foreign companies can receive up to 230 000 USD grant from Enterprise Georgia as a reimbursement of costs related to staff training and/or infrastructure. On top of that, a new tax incentive is available for IT companies, who serve foreign markets from Georgia. “International Company”, a newly introduced preferential tax regime by the Ministry of Finance of Georgia enables IT companies to benefit from reduced profit and personal income taxes to a flat 5%. Regular rates are 15% for profit tax and 20% for salary-related personal income tax in Georgia. Moreover, reinvested profits are not taxed in Georgia.
