China’s Emerging Outsourcing Leadership Role Highlighted by IAOP Chief

International Association of Outsourcing Professionals’ Chairman Michael Corbett Speaks at China IT Summit

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, June 27, 2008 – Chinese outsourcing service providers will face more challenging times in the coming year in the U.S. but are well positioned to catapult to an industry leadership position globally, according to the head of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP).

“As Chinese service providers continue to increase their share of the global outsourcing industry, the U.S. will certainly be one of the most important markets in which they need to succeed,” said IAOP Chairman Michael Corbett.

Speaking at the 4th China International Software and Information Service Outsourcing Summit, Corbett said the current U.S. economic slowdown, currency fluctuations and a U.S. Presidential election will all make for very uncertain times.

“In these challenging times, Chinese companies can catapult to a leadership position in this new world of outsourcing by focusing on developing deep outsourcing relationship management talent – something still lacking in even the most advanced areas of our field ,” he said during his keynote address on June 20 at the Dalian World Expo Center in China.

Corbett also spoke about China’s accelerating growth in service outsourcing at the launch of IAOP’s newest chapter in Beijing this month.

The Summit was sponsored by China International Software & Information Service Fair Committee and organized by Dalian Municipal Government. The event highlighted China’s shifting role from being a manufacturing source to a service provider.

Other speakers included Hu Jingyan, director general of Department of Trade in Services, Ministry of Commerce; Gao Wei, president of Dalian Software Park; Dr. Alex Peng, principal of McKinsey; Xu Qi Chang, AMS leader, IBM Global Business Services, China; Wang Xinjie, general manager and senior ISMS consultant, Peking Knowledge Security Engineering Center; and Benny Xian, COO and co-founder of BeyondCore.
