Meeting held – November 6, 2008
The second IAOP Rocky Mountain Chapter meeting, co-chaired by Roger Gloddy of HTMT Global Solutions and Judy Benda of Long View Systems, was held on Thursday, November 6 in the Aspen Room at the Cool River Café.
The program started with an introduction and overview of IAOP provided by Matthew Shocklee, President of GSOS & Ambassador of IAOP and then launched into a value-packed program on change management!
Participants learned how to prepare for a successful transition. Shirish Gupta of PA Consulting addressed the topic of “The Transition Challenge – Managing the Successful Transition to Outsourced Services.” Getting to contract is only half the work. The real challenge for organizations is transitioning services to an outsourcing provider. The effectiveness of the transition will in large part determine the ultimate success of the outsourcing relationship as it sets the stage for positive working relationships and achievable expectations. Preparation and good project management techniques are a key component to success! Josh Dougan, Independent Project Management Consultant, addressed “Case Studies of Applied Project Management Techniques.” How do you actually complete the transition? He shared his insight from a client perspective on methods that have proven successful and methods that have fallen short.
A networking session followed the program with refreshments provided by HTMT Global Solutions.

Inaugural Meeting held March 20, 2008:
The Inaugural Meeting for the Rocky Mountain Chapter was held on March 20, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. (MTN) at Bennett’s, 3700 Peoria Street, Denver, CO.
The topic was “Why Outsource, Why Not: A Realistic View of Both Sides of the Story” delivered by Roger A. Gloddy from HTMT and Bill Kuhns from EDS.
Some key takeaways were:
-Outsourcing, great beginnings – focus first on the reason
-Financial implications of off shore, near shore, and on shore
-Selection process can guarantee success, measuring potential partner
