IAOP Announces Publication of The Outsourcing
Professionals’ Guide to Corporate Responsibility

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, January 6, 2014 - The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®) today announced the publication of The Outsourcing Professionals’ Guide to Corporate Responsibility, by Van Haren Publishing, The Netherlands. The management guide is authored by Bill Hefley, PhD, COP and Ron Babin, DBA, COP, with contributions from IAOP’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee. Its publication is the culmination of several years work.

The guide examines corporate social responsibility policies and practices, including identifying and showcasing policies that IAOP members have adopted, creating a framework for companies to model new CSR policies and developing a network of resources for IAOP members.

“Because nothing like this exists, we wanted to understand the way that businesses marry the economic, social and environmental impacts of their operations to their values, culture, strategy and operations to maximize the benefits and minimize the downsides. It is an important area of focus for IAOP because it is not only important to but impacts our members on a daily basis,” said Debi Hamill, CEO, IAOP. “We hope The Outsourcing Professionals’ Guide to Corporate Responsibility will leave industry professionals not only more aware of the importance of corporate responsibility but challenged and moved to do more in this crucial area.”

Corporate Social Responsibility in outsourcing focuses on three critical areas – people, community and the environment. The “people” component relates to employee issues such as fair pay, good working conditions and diversity, while the “community” area focuses on economic and charitable efforts, both locally and globally. The “environment” aspect relates to green practices that help reduce energy consumption and waste. Practicing CR is also good business for reasons of sustainability, as well as brand-building.

IAOP corporate members may access the eBook The Outsourcing Professionals’ Guide to Corporate Responsibility management guide as a complimentary member benefit and IAOP Professional Members may also purchase the management guide at a substantial discount at Van Haren Publishing.
