Father of Indian Business Process Outsourcing to
be Inducted into IAOP Outsourcing Hall of Fame

Industry Leader to be Honored at The 2013 Asia-Pacific Outsourcing Summit

 
Poughkeepsie, NY Sept. 23 – The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®) today announced that Raman Roy, Chairman and Managing Director at Quatrro, is set to be inducted into its prestigious Outsourcing Hall of Fame during The 2013 Asia-Pacific Outsourcing Summit, being held October 21-24, 2013 at the Traders Hotel, Iskandar, Nusajaya, Malaysia.

“The Outsourcing Hall of Fame recognizes the very best professionals in the industry whose outsourcing management practice and leadership have significantly contributed to business and society at large,” said IAOP CEO Debi Hamill. “We are pleased to welcome Raman Roy. He has inspired us with his contributions, which have helped shape and grow the industry.” 

Mr. Roy is widely regarded as the Pioneer and “Guru” of the BPO industry in India. Referred to as the “Father of the Indian BPO Industry,” he has played a pivotal role over the past 22 years in promoting Indian BPOs helping prove India can be a preferred location for Remote Processing.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized by IAOP and inducted into the Outsourcing Hall of Fame,” said Mr. Roy. “For the last 20 plus years I have worked relentlessly to leverage the capabilities of the Indian workforce to create high quality cost effective global solutions. I consider IAOP’s recognition as a stimulus to continue my efforts to take the offshore Business Process Management industry to the next level and it reaffirms my belief in testing out new frontiers.”

Roy has successfully led the BPO initiatives of American Express, GE (now Genpact) and Spectramind (now Wipro BPO) before starting Quatrro in 2006. He was the CEO of GECIS, Business Leader for American Express’ BPO business and the Founder and CEO of Spectramind. He conceptualized and implemented the BPO and business strategy for all four companies. Deeply involved in shaping the future of the BPO industry in India, China, Mauritius and Sri Lanka, he is a member of the Executive Committee of NASSCOM, Chairman of the BPO committee of ASSOCHAM, in addition to being a member of various committees formed by the central government and state-level governments. Roy was recently appointed to the high powered Working Group formed by the Indian Prime Minister’s Office for making recommendations on improving the supply of suitable talent to the IT & BPO sectors.

Hall of Fame
Established by IAOP in 2006, The Hall of Fame continues to grow globally and now has 20-plus members in its ranks. The Hall of Fame is unique in that it recognizes individuals not only for their contributions to the management practice and industry of outsourcing, but just as importantly for their contributions to society at-large through outsourcing.
