International Association of Outsourcing Professionals
Launches Sri Lanka Chapter
Leaders in the Outsourcing industry Join Efforts to
Strengthen its Outsourcing Industry

Poughkeepsie, NY, Feb. 12, 2013 – The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®) announced today the recent launch of its Sri Lanka chapter. Chaired by RR Donnelley, the inaugural meeting took place on February 7th, 2013 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Leaders in the outsourcing industry came together to commence a landmark initiative for Sri Lanka’s sourcing sector.  Aiming to leverage Sri Lanka’s unique position as an outsourcing provider in the world, with the global resources and knowledge of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®), the chapter will promote the outsourcing profession through knowledge sharing, education, networking and insightful discussion in benefit of the overall outsourcing ecosystem.

“These are exciting times for Sri Lanka,” said IAOP CEO Debi Hamill. “The active support of leading organizations like RR Donnelley is critical to the success of our global chapter network and we're pleased to launch this chapter to better serve our members working in the region as well as those considering Sri Lanka as a destination for their operations.”

The Sri Lanka chapter will provide to customers, providers, outsourcing advisors, academic institutions, industry associations and government agencies, an opportunity to share best practices and collaboratively improve their organizations results as well as Sri Lanka’s value proposition in the worldwide outsourcing market.

"Sri Lanka's positioning in the sourcing industry has been acknowledged for well over a decade," said Bobby Varanasi, COP, COP-GOV, COOPM
Chairman/CEO, Matryzel Consulting and IAOP global ambassador. "The growing emphasis on ensuring the sector increases its contribution to the nation's economy (from the current 5%) is well placed, and opportune. I am particularly enthused by the commitment toward competence as seen in the Lankan outsourcing sector, and I hope there would be more laurels that the nation can boast of in the future. At the current moment, it is heart-warming to note the private sector pursuing sustainability and value-aligned service provisioning. IAOP's OPS and proven methodologies shall go a long way in complimenting such efforts, especially through the COS and COP programs."

Sponsor’s of the meeting were Tata Communications and Orion City; supported by SLASSCOM and ICT Authority of Sri Lanka.
