Job Seekers Can Retrain for Outsourcing Careers with Federal Aid
IAOP’s Professional Certifications Available through U.S. Labor Department CareerOne Stop Program
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, Nov. 17 – Job seekers can retrain for careers in the growing outsourcing industry with assistance from the federal government through the
CareerOneStop program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration.
Laid off workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans and persons with disabilities are among those who can qualify for federal aid to gain entry-level and advanced outsourcing certifications from the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®).
As a Workforce Eligible Training Provider (ELT), IAOP’s certifications and some training programs now qualify for the CareerOneStop program and are listed in its online Certification Finder directory, a searchable database of eligible programs nationwide.
In its role as the certifying body for the outsourcing industry, IAOP has developed a full range of certifications for individuals from entry-level to C-suite positions with the goal of creating a standardized evaluation procedure for the industry.
Certifications that are eligible through CareerOneStop include: Certified Outsourcing Professional® (COP), Associate Certified Outsourcing Professional (aCOP), Certified Outsourcing Specialist™ -- Transaction Processing (COS-TP), Certified Outsourcing Specialist™ -- Human Resources (COS-HR) and Certified Outsourcing Specialist™ -- F&A (COS-F&A). Training programs available are: IAOP’s online COP Master Class and online Outsourcing Governance Workshop.
CareerOneStop was developed in response to the U.S. WorkForce Investment Law to assist professionals with employment and retraining by providing funding for certifications that would forward their careers or gain employment.
“Having IAOP’s certifications approved and listed with CareerOneStop helps individuals who are seeking employment gain the skills and knowledge needed for jobs in the growing outsourcing field,” said IAOP Chairman Michael Corbett. “The reality is that outsourcing is helping to create jobs in the U.S. and globally.”
Surveys conducted by IAOP with the Human Capital Institute (HCI) showed that outsourcing jobs are widespread and well paying. The Outsourcing Professionals Salary Survey found many large organizations operate outsourcing departments with more than 100 employees in this function and compensation for analysts starts at about $51,000 annually with salaries for senior positions in the six-figure range.
Demand for skilled professionals in outsourcing also is expected to grow as global outsourcing markets are projected to continue to increase by 10 to 15 percent annually from $6 trillion currently, Corbett said.
New York is the first state to approve and fully list all the IAOP programs. Full or partial reimbursement of training, education or certification is administered and approved at the state level and varies by individual need.
