Certification
Organizations that work with certified professionals across the outsourcing industry can expect better, more consistent results specifically because these professionals have demonstrated – against an independently developed set of industry-wide standards – their experience and knowledge. Skilled professionals who are certified can command greater professional recognition and compensation. Studies in other fields have found a 20-plus percentage salary differential for certified professionals and 79 percent of executives recruiters believe that certified professionals are better-qualified candidates.
The core of IAOP’s corporate and professional development programs are the Outsourcing Professional Standards (OPS). These standards identify more than 100 specific areas of knowledge, experience, and skill individuals need to for outsourcing success. These standards, developed and maintained by the not-for-profit Outsourcing Standards Board, are available to the industry at large at no cost. The Outsourcing Professional Body of Knowledge (OPBOK) is a 300-plus page guide to implementing the Outsourcing Professional Standards. It contains detailed information on how to design, implement, and manage outsourcing, and is supported by a battery of templates that guide the practitioner through the application of the principles described.
