The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) is pleased to present the first event in The Outsourcing Leadership Series — focused, in-depth, one-day forums.

The 2008 IAOP Governance Forum

A recent IAOP survey showed that governance — inclusive of relationship, delivery, demand and risk management, among other topics — is the top challenge facing outsourcing professionals today.

The program is designed specifically to help you achieve greater value and the desired results from your outsourcing engagements. Learn how to improve outsourcing outcomes by using better governance to manage your relationships with outsourcing providers.

The forum, chaired by IAOP’s Governance Chapter, will cover the various aspects of outsourcing governance, including relationship management, delivery oversight and risk management. Hear from experts, customers and providers, who will share their experiences to help you achieve greater value by using better governance.

Increasingly, companies understand the importance of having strong requirements for good governance in outsourcing.”

A broader perspective on tools will be presented and potential opportunities for filling the gap will be discussed.

Ÿ    Straight Talk and Setting Expectations for Outsourcing Success
Ron Barbera, Executive Consultant, IBM

Have you ever spent days, weeks, or months working on your outsourcing deliverables — only to have your counterpart give you a perplexed look when you examine your service delivery? Worse yet, have you ever heard “that’s not what we were thinking” even though you collectively worked on something that was true to specifications? In our fast-paced business environment, it is easy to lose track of ever-changing client and service provider needs, agree to something we shouldn’t agree to — or simply to misinterpret what we think we’re hearing in the first place.

In this interactive presentation, we’ll look at the importance of straight talk to align teams and set appropriate expectations for successful delivery of services or completion of projects. Using a combination of examples, hints, tips, and tools, become more proficient in the essentials for getting your job done in a manner that keeps everyone smiling. Effective communications isn’t rocket science, but it isn’t necessarily easy either. Let’s explore the possibilities that straight talk can create for you, your team and your client and provider counterparts.

Ÿ    Fueling the Engine of Governance with an Effective Reporting Strategy

Maureen Ehrenberg, Principal, Expense Management Solutions

In a true outsourcing partnership, both parties understand each others’ goals and objectives and have clearly defined the scope of work, expectations, and time frames for performance. They commit to continuously report results and monitor the business environment to properly realign their interests over time. Governance is the engine that powers the process to ensure both parties receive the expected value of the relationship over its lifetime, and effective reporting is the fuel that feeds this engine. This session will discuss the importance of effective reporting to governance.
