Outsourcing Professionals in Latin America Sought to Participate in Industry Survey

IAOP Takes the Pulse of Outsourcing in Growing Region

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, May 2 – With the growth of outsourcing in Latin America, the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®) is surveying customers, advisors and providers of outsourcing services in this region to get the latest pulse on the industry.

“As outsourcing's reach spans the globe, Latin American countries are becoming more important, both as potential clients and as a destination for providing services,” says Jag Dalal, IAOP’s Managing Director of Thought Leadership. “In its role as the standard-setting organization and advocate for the industry, IAOP wants to hear from Latin America professionals about their perceptions of current opportunities and where the industry is headed.”

Information garnered from the survey on the state of the industry and future direction will be the basis for further discussion at IAOP’s second annual Latin America Outsourcing Summit, Oct. 1-2 at Hotel Unique in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Latin America countries can offer a variety of advantages as outsourcing destinations, including reduced costs due to labor advantage or technological superiority; access to a skilled labor pool; compatibility with Western culture and understanding of Western business principles and practices; economic and political stability; and proximity to the U.S.

“Latin America is undergoing broad and fast-paced expansion, fueled by economic strength and political stability in key countries like Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Chile,” says Sergio Pessoa, Director of Brasscom and chair of IAOP’s Latin America Regional Advisory Board.

“Outsourcing practices are also expanding across the region and improved IT and BPO capabilities combined with nearshore advantages are positioning the region as an alternative to Asia in the global sourcing arena,” he says.

The survey will ask participants what factors they consider advantages as well as any concerns. It will gather information on what countries outsourcing services are purchased and provided from; the top service areas; satisfaction with services; and main sources of outsourcing information in the region.
