Outsourcing Professionals Join Together in Nordic Region to Launch New IAOP Chapter

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., Sept. 17, 2009
– Outsourcing professionals in the Nordic region will be able to network, share best practices and work together to improve their outsourcing competencies with the formation of a new regional chapter of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®).

The IAOP’s Nordic Chapter will hold its inaugural meeting on
Sept. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the offices of Gorrissen Federspiel, H.C., located at Andersens Boulevard 12, 1553 Copenhagen V. in Denmark.

The new chapter is chaired by TReLLIS, Capgemini, Copenhagen Business School and PricewaterhouseCoopers. The meeting and chapter membership is open to outsourcing customers, providers, advisors and academia.

The kick-off chapter meeting will include a chapter introduction and overview of IAOP. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) also will speak on “Outsourcing in a Secure World -- Contemporary Issues and Best Practices.”

“Outsourcing is a very topical issue in the Danish business community as many companies are experimenting with new ways of organizing and managing their relationships with external partners,” said chapter co-chair Torben Pedersen, vice president AIB Center for Strategic Management and Globalization, Copenhagen Business School (CBS). “For CBS, it is a challenge to provide research and talented students that can fill this need. CBS is committed to achieving this in partnership with the business community.”

The new chapter will encourage thoughtful and productive dialogue about outsourcing and help companies increase their outsourcing competencies. The group plans to expand from Denmark to the rest of the region, and focus on regional realities and strategies that will be useful to members from individual countries. It will conduct quarterly face-to-face meetings or Webinars.

“PwC believes that outsourcing represents an enormous opportunity for companies, but there are risks and challenges that must be carefully managed,” said Kim Thomas, a partner at the firm in Sweden. “IAOP plays an important role in the development of successful outsourcing by bringing together vendors, customers and advisors. Therefore, PwC is delighted to support the IAOP in the establishment of a Nordic Chapter.”

The Nordic Chapter is a geographic chapter within IAOP’s portfolio of more than 40 chapters worldwide. Geographically based out of Denmark, the chapter is open to all IAOP members from around the globe.
