Asia’s Outsourcing Future to Be Addressed at The 2009 Asia-Pacific Outsourcing Summit in Malaysia

Outsourcing 2009: Asia’s Role in the NEW Global Economy

Download The program.

The 2009 Asia-Pacific Outsourcing Summit, being held  12-13 May, 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in association with Outsourcing Malaysia and PIKOM, the association representing the information and communications technology (ICT) industry in Malaysia, brings the world’s top outsourcing practitioners and business leaders together for a once-a-year, one-of-a-kind gathering to explore and set the future of outsourcing in Asia.

The Summit will explore and showcase the critical role Asia now plays in the global outsourcing marketplace. And while today’s economic slowdown certainly impacts all aspects of business — including outsourcing and offshoring — there is no doubt that Asia will be pivotal moving forward.

The theme is Outsourcing 2009: Asia’s Role in the NEW Global Economy with major emphases on:

·  Outsourcing’s emergence as a global business practice and profession.

·  How exceptional results demand exceptional execution.

·  The critical connection between cultural ties and global sourcing decisions.

·  How the most successful firms simultaneously think globally, but act locally.

The Summit is designed to create a forum where outsourcing is discussed from both global and regional points of view. There are some significant differences in creating and implementing outsourcing strategies in the Asian marketplace. We want to explore and highlight these and learn from those who have experience in the arena to create customer-provider interaction through joint presentations as well as through panel participation. The emphasis will be on case studies and lessons learned.

Outsourcing to Asia

For many Western companies, Asia is the first destination of choice for outsourcing and offshoring. But the market is changing rapidly. Activities and locations that only a few months ago were the center of many companies’ global strategies are today commodities and brand new opportunities are emerging. At the same time, the value proposition for every country and even many of the regions within a country are in constant flux. Topics will focus on the very latest experiences from today’s front lines as well as the current research and thinking into how outsourcing to Asia is likely to evolve over the next 18 to 24 months.
