Meeting held September 15, 2016

The IAOP Pacific Northwest Chapter, co-chaired by InfosysMicrosoft and Boeing, held its re-launch meeting on September 15, 2016 from 12pm to 5pm at the Microsoft Conference Center.

Chairman’s Summary:
The inaugural Northwest chapter meeting was held at Microsoft in Redmond campus on September 15th. We had 20 attendees from a variety of different companies and most of them welcomed the idea to re-establish PNW chapter. In addition to expanding our networks, there were two robust and insightful conversations, one around best practices for avoiding value leakage in contracts and the other around viability and use cases for cloud computing. There was broad participation by all the attendees and everyone took away actionable advice. The meeting ended with a free flow conversation to capture expectations and ideas for subsequent sessions.

Some of the ideas and suggestions are given below:

Future Topics:
1)      RPA (Robotics) and its impact on people (see #3)
2)      BPO - Deeper dive on SLA’s and governance in BPO
3)      The Future of Professions - career path for the retained organization as many typical career-laddering opportunities have disappeared
4)      Culture (Millennials was brought up)
5)      Sustainability (as an overall topic – Data Centre related etc.)
6)    How to create high performing teams
7)      interesting scope (e.g. more knowledge centric vs. transactional), and

Other Ideas:
1. Breakfast meeting
2. Bring a friend
3. Include Startups
