Inaugural meeting held August 30, 2010

The inaugural meeting of the Atlanta Chapter, chaired by Firstsource and Assurant, was held on August 30, 2010, at the offices of King & Spalding in midtown Atlanta.

In addition to the formal chapter launch and introduction of the chapter Governance Council and charter, the meeting included the following key topics:

  • Chapter charter
  • Organizing upcoming events
  • General session presentation & discussion
  • Current and prospective member “meet and greet” networking reception

The evening was highlighted by an engaging discussion led by Monty Hamilton, CEO of Rural Sourcing, who discussed an emerging “hot spot” for outsourcing – the United States. That’s right; the United States is stepping up to become the new kid on the outsourcing block. Just as foreign car manufacturers looked to low-cost labor in the South to gain an advantage, outsourcing within the US is a cost competitive alternative to the offshore option. Mr. Hamilton shared insights on global macro-economic trends that are driving this new movement, as well as documented cases of how US businesses are reducing costs and staying onshore.
