IAOP Founder and Chairman, Michael F. Corbett, to be
Inducted into Outsourcing Hall of Fame

Outsourcing Pioneer Selected by Advocacy & Outreach Committee

Poughkeepsie, NY, January 8 – IAOP® today announced that Mike Corbett, Founder and Chairman of IAOP, will be inducted into its prestigious Outsourcing Hall of Fame. He will be honored at a luncheon ceremony during The 2015 Outsourcing World Summit in Phoenix, Arizona, in February, where he will also be a keynote speaker.

"Through his vision, active participation and leadership, Mike Corbett has been instrumental in advancing outsourcing as a successful business model for companies and as a career path for professionals," said John Maher, Executive Managing Director, CBRE, and chair of IAOP’s Advocacy & Outreach Committee. "Since the 1980s, Mike Corbett has been at the forefront of shaping and evolving outsourcing policies and practices, globally. Not only is he a visionary, he is a leader who has inspired a rapidly growing industry with his many contributions. We are honored to induct Mike into the Outsourcing Hall of Fame."

Mike first got involved with outsourcing while he was with IBM in the late 1980s and was part of a large team that got IBM into the outsourcing business.  He wrote what may be the first research report on IT outsourcing, published by Frost & Sullivan in 1989, and then spent the next 15 years focusing on outsourcing as a management practice.

"It truly is an honor to be selected for this recognition,” said Corbett. “I’m privileged to be in the same Hall of Fame as those who have influenced my thinking, as well as many others I’ve had the great pleasure to work with, know and learn from over the years. Thank you to the committee and members for their support and most of all, thanks to the great team at IAOP for everything they do every day for our profession."

Mike helped spearhead the idea to build an association to recognize and support customers, providers and advisors as “outsourcing professionals” so they could better do their jobs. Today, that association, IAOP, improves outsourcing outcomes by bringing together customers, providers and advisors in a collaborative, knowledge-based environment that promotes professional development, recognition, certification and excellence.

He has also shared his industry insights as a keynote speaker at almost every Outsourcing World Summit and has served several times as a lead judge for IAOP’s Global Outsourcing 100®. Mike wrote  The Outsourcing Revolution: Why It Makes Sense and How to Do It Right (Dearborn, 2004), was an expert witness on outsourcing at hearings called by President Bill Clinton in 1996 and he testified before the Office of Management and Budget’s Commercial Activities Panel in 2002. He’s been featured on The CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, CNN Lou Dobbs Tonight, Fortune and many other print and broadcast interviews.

He received his MBA in Finance and Financial Management Services from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and his Bachelors in Mathematics & Physics from Dowling College, Long Island, NY. Mike is an active cyclist and runner, having completed two century (100-mile) rides and several half-marathons in the recent years.
